The downside of the Apple Silicon (AS) approach is software native compatibility. When this package is available in the Mini or similar format (hopefully sooner rather than later) I plan on moving to such a machine in my studio.

Max RAM in the M1 Max machines is 64GB and early reports suggest they geek bench similarly to a 12 Core 7,1 Mac Pro (for a LOT less money). As you may have read, Apple just announced in M1 Pro and M1 Max CPU/GPU (System On a Chip or SoC) and its availability in the new MacBook Pro laptops. But Apple Silicon sure looks like the bee's knees for DAW work, and the price is less likely to drain the bank account. If money is no object, sure, buy the biggest, baddest Intel-powered 7,1 Mac Pro or latest-gen iMac and stuffit with RAM.
No $$$$$ price like the Mac Pro so you won't have to mortgage your home to buy one. No screen like an iMac, so you won't have to buy a new screen when you buy a new computer if the current Mini turn out to be not powerful enough for your use case. May I ask why a Mini Mac would be the best choice? I am so lost? What does a MINI mac have that an iMac or Mac Pro doesn't?
Buy a separate HDMI screen you can use with a future upgraded Mini or Mac Pro if you run up against the current M1's limitations. What would be more efficient?
